Forget about expensive d link, brand routers, this will do the the job and u can take it anywhere you want. Have not tested for long time use meaning weeks on, but it's the best investment after spending thousands on extenders, routers that are hard to configure

Very versatile travel router. When only a wired connection is available, it creates a secured WIFI hotspot. When only a WIFI connection is available it creates a wired connection. The onboard admin software makes it very easy to switch between modes. It is so small that I can pack it along with its USB cable and Ethernet cable into a hard sided glasses case (See photo).

I just purchased this along with the AmazonBasics Universal Travel Case for Small Electronics and Accessoriesto build a travel router kit so when I'm in a hotel I have everything already set up and can just plug a chromecast into the TV and be good to go.

First, this is not the device for an average consumer You need to be well versed in Linux and networking concepts. Everything I got working required some tweaking and troubleshooting. If linux log files are not your thing, then pick up a TP-Link device.

Now, for me? This was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I wanted a small, robust linux device could use to connect to my home VPN server and then provide a WIFI network for client computers. This thing works perfectly for this. When I am traveling (abroad), I fire this thing up, connect it to the local internet (wired or wifi) and poof. I am utilizing my home network and network resources. I can connect a chomecast or Roku to this network. I can extend my home network at any time where ever I am.
